The Padre Motel

Located in the heart of the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument on Utah’s Scenic Highway 12.  We have twelve rooms of clean comfortable convenience to accommodate your stay.  Being situated in the center of Escalante, we are within walking distance of the local grocery store, service stations, and restaurants.

Three generations of the Lyman family have been here, at the intersection of Center & Main, in Escalante, Utah, since 1944.
The adjacent motel was constructed in 1956 and opened under the name, “Last Chance Motel”, because it was the last motel available on the unfinished Highway 12 going east to Boulder.  Eventually the motel was renamed to “The Padre Motel” to honor the town’s namesake, Padre Silvestre Vélez de Escalante.
